The Berkshire Bach Society, James Bagwell, conductor
Teresa will be soloing in separate settings of The Magnificat, also known as the Song of Mary, which is one of the oldest hymns in the Christian tradition. J.S. Bach composed his Magnificat in 1723, and his son Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach set the same text in 1733. The Berkshire Bach Society presents both works on this program, which are similar in character but differ in overall structure, duration, scoring and divisions of the text but both are masterpieces by master composers.
